Rapport d'Alex Moon - 10 octobre 2007 |
| |
Hello all,
As you may or may not know I remained down here in South America between the two trips, and even though I’m quite ready for my own bed at home this second camp with the NCO has been the best skiing so far. Early starts on bullet proof snow and lots of mileage make for happy skiers on the whole. It seems that everybody is making great improvements in their skiing (thanks to Jazz Chris and Pat’s coaching). A few of the older boys even got the privilege to ski with the “Equipe du Quebec” men this morning in GS, and we were all very competive with them. I am confident that a good season is in store for the NCO if we keep on the right track.
See you all back home on the weekend,
Alex Moon

Mathieu

Nouvelles de Jazz - 29 septembre 2007 |
Hi guys,
Things have been great out here. The snow conditions are do die for. The weather has been amazing. The accommodations are finally good, who knew there was luxury in Chile, the food isn't all that bad either. The kids have progressed a lot and are having a great time. We've been training GS mostly some SG and some SL. I think we made a good choice comming out here. We're on our first day off, which is well needed. The kids are taking full advantage of the day to catch up on homework, rest and chatting with friends on the net. We are however looking forward to getting back on skis and tarring up some more SL and GS gates.

As for the camp, this is an incredible training venue. Chile having had a cold winter still has plenty of snow and you can find firm snow until about 3pm on the upper portion of the mountain. The team has trained GS mostly with SL sessions later on in the afternoon. Friday and Saturday we have SG sessions fro 630am to 830am. The track looks excellent and it will be a great opportunity to gain mileage on the long skis.

Mont Ste. Marie - Super Camp 2006 |

December 18, 2006 - After successful camps out west with athletes in both Apex and Panorama BC, the NCO K2 team is now reunited at home here in the Ottawa region. Congratulations go out the Julian Sheiner for qualifying for the Alpine Canada Devonian Properties K2 Rising Stars camp in Panorama and Jordan Sudermann for being qualified to attend The Westwind Partners AOA camp also in Panorama. The entire coaching staff is proud of how you represented the NCO region and our team.
Since being here in Ottawa we have called Mont Ste-Marie our second home, thanks to the Sheiner, Sudermann and Davidson families for providing beds and meals to the athletes! Despite the un- seasonably warm temperatures in the region, MSM has delivered excellent training to several clubs in the region, and kept us close to home in the pre-season. This past week the Vanier lift was open to athletes from the regional clubs only and provided training space. Good co-operation between clubs to combine resources and equipment meant an excellent training environment for the athletes, snow conditions varied from counter top to spring like which was a good challenge for everyone.
Next up for the team is more training in the NCO region and our first event for the K2 Team is the NCD Taschereau Cup time trial on December 31st at Camp Fortune.
Good luck to our FIS team racing in the Laurentians this week! |

October 14 , 2006 - Swiss delight!
While other ski areas in Europe have been experiencing struggles with weather, snow and limited training space for the top athletes in the world, Saas Fee has been in full operation for training since our arrival here in early October. From all the reports we've heard, this seems to be the very best place to be training at the moment in Europe, and one that many of the worlds top skiers are calling their home training area for early October in preparation for the World Cups at Soelden. Among others that have trained here; Maria Jose Rienda-Contreras, Tanja Poutianen, Max Blardone, Davide Simoncelli, Giorgio Rocca, Stephane Tissot, along with the rest of their respective National Teams, the French, the Swedes and of course the Swiss.
As for the NCO, we are grateful to enjoy yet another camp with impeccable snow and beautiful weather allowing us to give our athletes the best training environment available in the fall. Here is a typical day for our athletes;
6:30am (weekend 6:00am): wake up
6:40am: warm up
7:00am: Breakfast
-Consisting of cereals, fresh bread, cheese, meats, fruits, yogurt, OJ.
7:20am: leave Sonnenhoff for the lift
7:30am: arrive at the lift
8:00am (7:00am weekends): give'r through the athletes gondola lineup
-Some kind of a funneling affect with all the athletes, this mass of people takes on it's on form known as the leviathan, according to Daren.
8:30am: 2 gondolas and 1 train ride later you've reached the top!
8:45am: On snow warm up/training begins
11:00am: Break time and snack
1:45pm: Training completed
2:20pm: Refuel and re hydrate at Sonnenhoff
3:00pm to 4:00pm: Homework or ski tuning
4:00pm: Dryland workout
-core workouts have been popular with daily doses of stretching. Epic soccer games on days off.
5:00pm to 6:45pm: Homework or ski tuning
6:45pm: Dinner
8:00pm: Meetings and video
8:30pm: Free time
9:30pm: Lights out
Firm snow and good weather have meant consistent good training days for the athletes, so rest and recovery on days off have been emphasized. The camps plan has been to train 4 day blocs with days off in between, GS, SL, GS, SL. Work ethic within the group is excellent and goals are well established the night before training with good video sessions and good images from the many video and image resources the coaches are providing. Progress thus far is good with the group and the energy level is strong deep into the camp, so we are looking for even more from the athletes going into the final bloc.
Sonnenhoff is comfortable as always and the food is fantastic, thanks Peter and Anne-Marie!!
Goodbye from Saas Fee!

August 27, 2006 - Update
de Mathieu
Aujourd'hui
jours, restez alertes.
Today we enjoyed our first off day. It was a little cooler today then
other days but it didnt keep us from having an intense soccer game along with
some strength exercices and stretching. After having lunch, Jazz and Seb started
their individual meetings with each athlete to discuss goals and going over
any questions we had. Tomorrow we are getting new cooks and maids because our
old ones are leaving to go back to Santiago. We will miss the good food and
service. I can´t believe we are already starting the second week of camp.
More updates will follow, keep reading... |

August
24, 2006 - Hey everyone! I can´t
believe we´re already going on to day 6 of training. It
feels like just yesterday we were in the airport. Time has
really been flying by here in Chile. We´ve been doing
long days of training: we start when the t-bar opens at 9 and
ski until it closes again at 5. Everybody is skiing great,
the drills that Seb and Jazz give us are bringing the entire team
to some awesome skiing. Our equipment is also great thanks to the
wonderful Chris. Also, the weather is amazing: blue skies with
sunshine everyday. Our lodge is very cozy, and the chileans
here are all very friendly. I have to go now, but I´ll
see you in a couple of weeks!
I love you Mom and Dad

22, 2006 - Day
3 was again all sun and blue skies!! Lots of sunscreen
and water were the order of the day once again. We have
moved up to the upper portion of El Colorado to hone the athletes
technical skills on more challenging terrain. The snow
is absolutely incredible at the top all day. It stayed
firm until 3:00pm! We have been skiing long days until
4:00pm. Combined with the long walk down to our Refuge
after trainin these are long hard days for the NCO gang.
We've had
now 3 days on Slalom skis doing technical work, the K2 will
be moving to GS tomorrow, taking advantage of the wide open
terrain on their long boards.
More to come from El Colorado!

August
20, 2006 -I am please to report the team has arrived safely here
in El Colorado and we´ve been greeted with absolutely beautiful
weather and the forecast appears to have more of it in store
for our first week on snow here in Chile. The team had
an early Saturday afternoon arrival on and settled in to their
new home for the next 3 weeks, all impatiently awaiting their
first turns. The
rest of the afternoon was spent applying the finishing touches
to the skis followed by an annual soccer match in the Farrellones
to loosen up after the many hours of travel endured.
Today marked our first day on snow and what a day it was! Sun and not a
cloud in sight! This was a highly anticipated day for all and a great reward
after a long hard spring and summer of conditioning leading up to this camp. Despite
it being the weekend, today was not extremely busy and allowed decent turn around
and lots of runs to get back into the groove. Skiing ended towards 4:00pm,
characteristics long days of August in Chile.
Excited to get back at it tomorrow!
More updates and pictures to come,
